Membership in the West Hudson Amateur Radio Club is open to any individual with an interest in amateur radio. There are three types of membership:
Active Membership – Open to any person holding a valid FCC Amateur Radio Operator license of any class with an interest in joining the club and promoting the purposes of the Club. Active members may vote on all Club business, in all Club elections, and are eligible to serve as Committee Chairpersons, Directors, or Officers. Dues are $25.00 per calendar year.
Associate Membership – Open to any person who has a desire to become a member who has an interest in becoming an FCC licensed Amateur Radio Operator and with an interest in joining the club and promoting the purposes of the Club. Associate members do not have the right to hold office or serve as a committee chairperson. In the event an associate member obtains an Amateur Operator/Station license, then he or she is automatically upgraded to Active Member. Dues are $25.00 per calendar year.
Honorary Membership – May be bestowed upon any person by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the Membership, or by a two-thirds vote of the entire Board of Directors. Honorary members do not have voting privileges and may not hold Club office. They are not required to pay dues.
Additionally, Family Membership and Student Membership are available at lower dues rate for qualifying individuals. Any person residing in the same household as an Active Member may join as a Family Active Member or as a Family Associate Member (depending on whether or not they hold an FCC Amateur Radio License) at 50% of the annual dues rate for their Class. Any person under the age of eighteen (18) years, or any full-time student at an accredited college or university under the age of twenty-five (25) years may join as a Student Active Member or as a Student Associate Member (depending on whether or not they hold an FCC Amateur Radio License) at 50% of the annual dues rate for their Class.
Procedure – Members shall be admitted to membership to the Club under the following procedures: An applicant must complete an application either on the web site or on paper with his or her name, call sign (if applicable), address, telephone number, and email address. The applicant must agree to abide by the Bylaws of the Club, sign the application, pay the first year’s dues, and submit the application to any member of the Board of Directors. Dues will not be prorated.
Online applications and dues payments may be made through HamClubOnline by registering on that site and applying to join WHARC and even pay by credit card (through PayPal checkout – no PayPal account required).
